You walk my dreams

You appeared in my dreams last night
Something wasn't right
I wonder if my dream
Was even a shade of reality
If it were my dear, I am so sorry
I wish I could help you
Not feel so lonely

You've drowned, I fear
In the thrills of the world
Once a master of what you craved
Now you're enslaved
Though you live as though you're free
I wonder if you miss the way you were
When we were younger

Desperation, you reeked of it
Even though I could not smell it
I could see it, leaking out of your eyes
Leaking out of your mouth
In words and sentences that do not represent
What once lay beneath
I wish you'd come back

I need to stop wishing for days long gone
And hope and pray that you won't remain forlorn
I'm out of ideas but not out of faith
One day you'll be reminded of grace
