16. Thanks
There's a lot of things I'm thankful for and a lot of them you could probably say are quite common things. I'm thankful for a roof over my head, a car and money to buy petrol, family, food etc.
Here's a list of slightly more obscure things I'm thankful for, just because I can:
- The smell of rain, and the fact that you can smell rain coming.
- The vibration of music.
- Vinyl. Somehow a little metal needle resting on a big round black thing with grooves in it makes sound when the round thing is spinning. HOW AMAZING!
- The smell of candles once they've been blown out. They always remind me of birthdays, of happy times and celebration.
- Harmonies in music. (Specifically, Brooke Fraser's. But I'm not too picky.)
- Glue. It's crazy handy to be able to stick things together.
- Cold showers on hot days/hot showers on cold days.
- Getting your feet so hot from a heater that it's almost painful, but not quite.
- Sunlight streaming through gaps in clouds. Rays!
- Views of the city or a suburb all lit up at night, from far away.
- Taking deep breaths out in the country and getting rid of inner cobwebs.
- The ability trees and fresh air have to sooth an aching soul. I think it's because God made them, not man.
- Driving on completely deserted roads.
- The abundance of ice cream flavours you can get these days.
- Other cultures introducing us to amazing food (even if I'm a bit of a wimp sometimes when it comes to trying said food.)
- The sound of an engine in an older car compared with a newer car.
- The smell of older cars.
- Old leather.
- Finding amazing old things in op shops. (This does not happen often enough)
- Laughter. Mine, yours, ours, theirs.
- The way a baby's eyes light up with they're smiling at someone. Innocent eyes.
- Little girls in tutus being spun around by their fathers.
- God healing the broken hearts of the little girls in tutus who weren't spun around by their fathers.
- The desperation for truth in the eyes of the broken.
- Bobby pins and hair spray.
- Meeting people in random ways and becoming friends (hey there Beth, Sarai, Beck, Jasmine, Anneliese Ella... the list goes on)
- Social worlds colliding.
- Social worlds not colliding.
- Yellow walls. They make a house seem warmer! (Orange feature walls are also pretty good for this)
- The little tiny itsy bitsy habits people have that you only notice after being around them for years.
- Knowing what foods my friends do/don't like.
- God creating family to mean more than just the people you're genetically related to.
- Being able to feel music. Being able to see it.
- Vacuums! It's so awesome to vacuum a really dirty floor and step back to admire a job well done.
- Spray and wipe.
- Spices.
- Garlic.
- The ability to learn.
- Pens you still need to dip in ink.
- Really good paper.
- That one pen that you love writing with because it's the best pen in the world.
- Knowing how things work (e.g. how a watch works, how a record player works)
- Ctrl + A (Select all)
- Keyboard shortcuts in general.
- Early mornings when you don't need to be awake, but you just are. The air smells better in the morning.
